Why We Built This Site
West Virginia provides several public access routes, yet no single Kanawha County database contains the whole record. Police and sheriff offices keep the reports their officers create. Magistrate and Circuit Court clerks hold dockets and case papers. The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation operates the regional jail search, while the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau maintains the central fingerprint-based history system and directs official checks through IdentoGO. The West Virginia Sex Offender Registry is another distinct state source. This site was built to sort those roles and present verified request steps, official links, and office details in one clear reference.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of a West Virginia court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We do not issue certified court papers, criminal histories, or other official copies
- We cannot submit a FOIA request, expungement petition, or court filing for a visitor
- We do not retrieve a person's criminal record or conduct an official background check
- We cannot interpret a charge, advise on a case, or provide legal counsel
- We cannot promise that an agency's hours, fees, address, or telephone number has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the proper court clerk, law-enforcement agency, WVDCR, or the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau. This resource can identify the route but cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. They operate their own services, decide their prices, and control the results they return. If a visitor follows one of those tools and purchases a service, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference available at no charge. We neither set the provider's fees nor determine the content of its reports.
