Charleston Correctional Center and Jail opened in 2015 at 1356 Hansford Street. It replaced the Charleston Work Release Center, which had operated since 1972. Its stated capacity combines a 96-bed coeducational work-release unit and a 32-bed female Residential Substance Abuse Treatment unit. It is a lower-custody, work-release, and treatment facility, not a substitute for the South Central intake search.
Facility names can appear similar in a Kanawha County record. Verify the exact location and status through WVDCR before drawing conclusions about custody or release.
